Treating inflamed skin
Question:
Answer by Denise R. Fuller:
A great massage for red or inflamed skin is a pressure point massage and a manual lymphatic drainage massage.
In a pressure point treatment the esthetician applies finger pressure to specific points along oriental meridians. Hold each point for at least three to six slow seconds, repeating these steps over the face three times. The pressure point massage helps improve circulation, balance the skin and reduce stress.
Another, great treatment to offer is manual lymphatic drainage (MLD). MLD can be used to treat puffy eyes, acne, rosacea and skin irritations. It is excellent pre and post cosmetic surgery because it aids in the healing process. MLD is incredibly relaxing—I would highly recommend taking this additional training to improve your skills. I incorporate MLD in my basic facial massage and clients love it.
